Saarinen Executive Arm Chairs in Moss Silk Mohair, Pair
$5,000.00

At a Glance

Restoring Saarinen Executive Chairs, in all variations, has become a significant part of what we do. From time to time, we undertake a true one-of-one restoration when the right chair meets the right fabric. This pair is exactly that.

Silk mohair from Rogers & Goffigon elevates these early chairs, circa the 1950s, to an entirely new level. We have modernized this iconic silhouette by omitting all piping details. The walnut legs on each chair have been completely refinished to complement the Moss mohair upholstery.

Although more than 50 years old, these chairs have been thoughtfully elevated. Our goal is to spark inspiration and encourage experimentation. We invite you to reach out with your own ideas for a new expression of a Eero Saarinen Executive Chair.

[OR380] Florence Knoll Settee in KnollTextiles Limani Mohair & Brushed Antique Bronze - Square.jpg
Florence Knoll Settee
$9,500.00

When Florence Knoll designed this collection, she never intended for it to become one of the most recognizable furniture series of the twentieth century. Her goal was simply to create the essential “meat and potatoes” of her large-scale interior projects—pieces that were purposeful, restrained, and enduring. That quiet intention is precisely what makes their lasting legacy so remarkable.

The story and meticulous restoration of this Florence Knoll Settee is featured in the upcoming documentary Florence Knoll: Nothing Left to Chance. In reimagining this iconic design, our approach was one of thoughtful refinement rather than reinvention.

To soften the settee’s signature rectilinear silhouette, we upholstered it in Limani Mohair by KnollTextiles, a luxurious high-pile textile that adds warmth, depth, and tactile richness. We also eliminated the traditional self-welt found on the seat and back cushions, allowing the beauty and texture of the material to take center stage.

Our final, subtle evolution was to finish the steel frame in a rich brushed bronze. Paired with the plush mohair upholstery, the warm metallic finish lends a new sense of sophistication while honoring the clarity and timeless elegance of Florence Knoll’s original design.

Gerald Thurston Table Lamp
Gerald Thurston Table Lamp
$1,800.00

Over the last century, lighting design has experienced a remarkable transformation. Today’s designers continue to explore bold new forms and materials, but the spirit of this innovation was first sparked in the 1950s and ’60s by modernist pioneers who broke away from traditional ornamentation. Among them was Gerald Thurston, a visionary whose name is now closely tied to Mid-Century Modern lighting. While little is known about his personal life, Thurston's groundbreaking work for Lightolier endures, his pieces remain coveted by collectors and designers alike.

This rarely seen table accent lamp exemplifies Thurston’s refined approach: sculptural, sleek, and unapologetically modern. Its slender silhouette features a striking contrast between polished brass and glossy piano black. More than just visually compelling, it’s thoughtfully engineered; the oversized shade swivels effortlessly, allowing light to be directed exactly where it’s needed. Though delicate in form, the lamp has withstood the test of time, a testament to both Thurston’s ingenuity and Lightolier’s craftsmanship.

Fully restored by our team, this lamp has been carefully brought back to its original glory. It has been professionally rewired for safe, modern use, and outfitted with a black silk cord to echo its elegant design. All painted black surfaces have been refinished in a matching gloss, while the brass elements have been meticulously polished to a radiant finish. Our goal was to honor Thurston’s vision and ensure this timeless piece continues to shine for decades to come.

Perfect for a reading nook, side table, or desk, this lamp is more than functional decor—it’s a piece of design history, beautifully reborn.

Petite Bentwood Settee
Petite Bentwood Settee
$2,500.00

We’ve always been drawn to the elegant proportions of both Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern design. Though stylistically distinct, these movements share a sense of refinement that resonates beautifully in this Petite Settee. Designed in the early 1950s, it embodies a seamless blend of both influences—its graceful silhouette reminiscent of the work of Thonet and Alvar Aalto, with slender bentwood arms and just the right amount of upholstery to maintain its sophisticated presence.

Our team undertook an extensive restoration, carefully bringing the piece down to its frame. The bentwood arms were meticulously refinished, revealing a warm, honeyed grain that enhances the wood’s natural character. We replaced all interior padding and support, sculpting each element to honor the original curves of the design.

For the upholstery, we selected a luxurious Ivory Wool from the renowned Holland & Sherry, featuring a delicate herringbone weave that subtly enhances the settee’s contours. To define its form further, we finished the edges with a Sepia Linen piping trim, a refined contrast that complements the richness of the wood arms.

Perfect for a nook, home office, or foyer, this Petite Settee offers both comfort and style—gracefully welcoming guests with open arms.

Thonet Lounge Chairs, Pair
Thonet Lounge Chairs, Pair
$6,500.00

The restored pair of Thonet Chairs shown has found a new home. However, we have several more of these timeless Thonet chairs available and ready for custom restoration, using either a material from our library or a fabric that you provide for use. We’d be happy to answer any questions you may have about current quantities available or the restoration process.

—

Furniture manufacturers who have stood up to the test of time did so by continuously transforming themselves. In particular, one company who would see countless iterations is Thonet. Starting off as experts in decorative bent wood, the company would evolve to take on more adventurous feats such as its entrance into the Mid-Century Modern design movement. These chairs however are an early example of Thonet’s Art-Deco work circa 1940. Their unapologetically curvaceous design is timeless and remains relevant to this day.

Our team was absolutely taken by the organic design of these chairs. They are very much sculptural in form and stunning from every angle, exhibiting fluid design lines and gracefully intersecting materials. As these chairs received a full restoration, we were able to examine their frames which are a feat in carpentry in themselves. We chose a gorgeous mohair to maintain the chairs’ soft appearance while accentuating their elegant curves. The mohair is particularly effective when applied to the chairs’ upholstered side panels. In addition to new upholstery, each steam bent maple arm received refinishing. The smooth wood finish is the perfect complement to the rich mohair upholstery.

The result is a timeless Thonet design, preserved and refined to survive for at least another lifetime. In a living room, a foyer, an intimate nook, or perhaps a bedroom; these chairs are an elegant addition to any inspired home.

Tommi Parzinger Style Dresser
Tommi Parzinger Style Dresser
$4,500.00

Restrained elegance was a hallmark of the great Tommi Parzinger, one of the most momentous designers of the Mid-Century era. His work—whether for Charak Modern or his own esteemed line, Parzinger Originals—embodied a luxurious sensibility grounded in architectural rigor. His influence was so pronounced that many of his contemporaries, along with other furniture manufacturers of the time, drew inspiration from Parzinger’s distinctive style while developing their own collections.

This well-appointed dresser is a testament to that influence: architecturally precise, subtly expressive, and adorned with Parzinger-esque brass pulls that speak to refined taste.

Our team has fully refinished the piece in a rich ebony lacquer with a satin sheen. The polished brass hardware offers a striking contrast, further highlighted by a delicate gilded line above the legs that adds just the right amount of flair. The dresser features four drawers—two petite drawers at the top and two full-sized ones below—offering both beauty and function.

A celebration of Mid-Century design, this piece captures the essence of Parzinger’s timeless style and makes a sophisticated statement in any well-appointed home.

Pace Collection Cocktail Table
Pace Collection Cocktail Table
$3,000.00

With the goal of creating pieces of high-design that differed from contemporaries such as Knoll and Herman Miller, Irving & Leon Rosen founded the Pace Collection in 1960. They looked to the simplicity of materials to be the voice of their collection, all expertly fabricated and finished. Polished metals and high gloss exotic veneers were commonplace and to this day remain unapologetically Pace.

A gorgeous 3/4” thick piece of glass is gracefully rounded at each corner, accentuating the columnar legs while also providing soft-edge safety. This large piece of glass is supported by four steel legs which are paired with solid steel caps, these pieces tether together to house the glass as if hovering in mid-air. The Object Refinery team chose to restore each leg by stripping and plating them in a handsome brushed bronze finish. The combination of brushed bronze and sleek glass could not be more perfect.

We’ve restored this piece however minor wear consistent with age and history may still exist. The original glass shows light signs of wear and the original legs, while newly refinished, show slight signs of wear from history. The result is a preserved piece of timeless design set to live in for at least another lifetime.

Bernhardt Lounge Chairs, Pair
Bernhardt Lounge Chairs, Pair
$9,000.00

There are a handful of furniture manufacturers known for their unique approach to design as well as their commitment to quality. It’s companies like these who’ve been able to survive through years of changes in style and aesthetic. One company that fits this mold is the famed Bernhardt Furniture Company, founded in 1889, and still in operation to this day. Having existed through countless eras of design, one highlight of their time was during the Mid-Century when furniture was to be both stylish and functional. Such is true with this pair of Flair by Bernhardt Furniture Lounge Chairs, which we completely restored to perfection.

We were quite taken with the design of these chairs, which it turns out are quite rarely seen, originally designed under the brand Flair which was an offshoot of Bernhardt’s main collection. The design is prominently angular, yet no hard edges exist, the designers instead favored subtle curved nuances to soften the chair to the eye. We kept this intention in mind as we restored the pair, choosing a cashmere-like material to accentuate the softness of these chairs. The alpaca wool blend in the color Clay is a handsome complement to the newly refinished solid walnut sled bases, the combination is best experienced in person and to the touch. We used brand new down wrapped foam inserts for the cushions, a premium fill, which provides the luxury of down without the need to constantly “fluff”.

The result is a pair of Bernhardt Furniture Lounge Chairs, meticulously restored and ready to effortlessly exist in an array of environments. These low and deep chairs are the perfect addition to a living space, a lounge, or perhaps a more intimate setting.

Florence Knoll Sofa
$13,500.00

Update: This Florence Knoll Sofa as shown has sold. We have another Florence Knoll Sofa in-stock currently ready for custom restoration. Inquire below to work with us in designing this custom-restored piece.

Modern day obsession with Mid-Century design wouldn't exist if not for the momentous efforts of Florence Knoll. The most significant chapter in Knoll’s life was spent devoted to her namesake company. Her work at Knoll in cultivating the world’s talent in the fields of design & architecture resulted in one of the most timeless collections of furniture design still revered today. Florence Knoll was also one of the first designers of commercial space, her “Planning Unit” team took on projects for clients such as IBM, Connecticut General Life, CBS, and Look Magazine.

It was during these years in interior design when Knoll required furniture which in some cases simply did not exist, her response to this problem was simple: design it. With that, she created what may be one of the most iconic furniture collections of our time. Her lounge chairs, tables, and sofas such as ours shown, are beloved symbols of Mid-Century design still used in homes & offices alike.

The Object Refinery team has thoughtfully restored this vintage iteration Florence Knoll Sofa leaving not one inch untouched. We’ve decided to honor Knoll’s design with brushed brass plating on its frame, a finish for this classic which is exclusive to our Studio. The sofa has also received new interior foam and upholstery, we chose a durable Performance Velvet in Bronze Gray which handsomely accents the Brushed Brass base. The result is a timeless piece of Florence Knoll design, expertly restored to live on for at least another lifetime.

Pollock Executive Chair
Pollock Executive Chair
$1,500.00

Although only a handful of Charles Pollock’s designs were produced for Knoll’s Studio Collection, the pieces that did make it into production have become enduring icons of modern design. This achievement speaks to Pollock’s remarkable ingenuity: his best-known creations, the 657 Sling Chair and the Executive Chair, were engineering triumphs in their time and remain so today. What began as a design proposal to Florence Knoll, later championed by Knoll Planning Unit’s Vincent Cafiero, ultimately resulted in a series of sought-after pieces that continue to captivate collectors and design enthusiasts alike.

Our team has fully restored this Pollock Executive Chair, beginning with a careful inspection of Pollock’s celebrated “Rim Technology,” the hallmark of this design. The polished, extruded aluminum rim forms a continuous exoskeleton that securely holds both the upholstery and the polypropylene back shell in place. This singular aluminum element not only provides the chair’s structural rigidity but has also become the defining visual signature of Pollock’s work.

For the restoration, we selected a refined Mohair upholstery in Gunmetal, a sophisticated gray with subtle tonal variations that beautifully accentuate the chair’s sculptural lines.

Saarinen Executive Arm Chairs, Terracotta
Saarinen Executive Arm Chairs, Terracotta
$2,500.00

Eero Saarinen’s career, though brief, left an indelible mark on both furniture design and architecture. His work was visionary, bridging disciplines and redefining how design could harmonize with the human form. Among his many contributions, the Saarinen Executive Chair remains one of his most enduring and recognizable creations, celebrated for its sculptural beauty and everyday usability.

The Saarinen Executive Arm Chair is a quintessential piece of the Mid-Century Modern movement, known for its versatility and comfort. Its graceful curves invite the sitter to relax, while the subtle flexibility of the open back provides just the right amount of give. As with all of Saarinen’s work, the chair feels as much a sculpture as a functional object, elegant from every angle.

Our team selected an Italian bouclé in Ivory, a textured yet exceptionally soft fabric that highlights Saarinen’s sculptural curves. To further define the chair’s silhouette, we added piping in Italian leather and finished the hardware with a glossy Terracotta coat. Together, these details bring a 75-year-old design into a fresh and inviting light. The result is a timeless piece elevated by some of the finest materials.

The example shown in Terracotta represents just one of many possibilities. Each Saarinen Executive Chair is restored to order in our workshop and can be fully customized in any model of the design, including Arm, Armless, Metal Leg, Wood Leg, or Swivel Base. In the world of Mid-Century Modern design, especially in the high-end market, the name John Stuart stands out. The elegant yet elusive "John Stuart Inc." label is often found on pieces of exceptional design. In some cases, this label appears alongside the "Johnson Furniture Co." mark, both companies proudly based in the furniture capital of the time, Grand Rapids. John Stuart, a pioneer in his field, built a brand known for distributing only the finest furniture and home décor. His line included Danish imports under the John Stuart brand and close collaborations with Johnson Furniture Co., which featured designs by the renowned Paul Frankl. These nightstands are a perfect example of this partnership: curated by John Stuart, crafted by Johnson Furniture Co., and, based on our research, confidently attributed to Paul Frankl himself.

These 3-drawer nightstands exemplify exceptional design. A close look reveals that every detail has been thoughtfully executed, characteristic of Paul Frankl's work. The choice of materials alone speaks to their superior quality: walnut exteriors, oak and mahogany dovetailed drawers, and brass inlays and pulls. Reproducing such craftsmanship today would be a daunting task, which inspired us to restore them to their fullest potential.

Each nightstand has been meticulously refinished, both inside and out, restoring them to a near-new condition. The walnut exteriors have been stained in a timeless ebony, allowing the warmth of the wood to subtly shine through. The brass inlays framing the drawers and defining the base have been polished to a brilliant sheen, creating a striking contrast with the ebony finish. The proportions are masterfully balanced, with details like the gradual increase in drawer size and the way the drawers appear to float above their base, showcasing the artistry behind their design.

Brian Kane's Swoop Collection for Herman Miller embodies a modern interpretation of midcentury style, particularly showcased through the Swoop Plywood Lounge Chair. Kane meticulously studied the interaction between people and public seating, noting how users contort themselves into often uncomfortable and nonfunctional furniture. His aim was to create a collection that genuinely accommodated the natural human form and its spontaneous behaviors.

The Swoop Plywood Lounge Chair is a tribute to Herman Miller’s esteemed legacy, deeply influenced by the groundbreaking work of Charles and Ray Eames. Renowned for their pioneering use of molded plywood, the Eameses delivered furniture designs that have become timeless icons. Kane has adeptly modernized this motif, incorporating elegant upholstered "Swoops" that embrace the body in any chosen posture. This chair is designed to accommodate various sitting positions—whether upright, angled, or reclined—ensuring comfort and support in every scenario.

Our team has reupholstered these chairs in a warm camel-toned suiting wool, creating a sophisticated contrast against the elegant grain of ash wood and sleek chrome accents. The muted palette allows them to seamlessly integrate into a variety of spaces while their sculptural form adds a striking visual element. Heywood Wakefield "M340C" Chairs, Pair
$0.00

The design world thrives on both competition and collaboration, each playing a role in shaping notable work and driving aesthetic evolution. In 1897, two successful companies and fierce rivals, Heywood Brothers and Wakefield Company, merged to form the renowned Heywood-Wakefield. Today, the brand is celebrated for its extensive portfolio of highly sought-after furniture. Like any forward-thinking company, its designs evolved through numerous stylistic shifts over time. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, Heywood-Wakefield explored forms influenced by French Art Deco. Pieces from this period are rarely encountered, including this pair of sculptural M340C armchairs, which have been fully restored in our workroom.

The Object Refinery team stripped these chairs down to their frames to carry out a comprehensive restoration. A whitewash finish was applied to the birchwood, creating a relaxed and understated look. The light wood frames pair beautifully with the natural lambswool used on the upholstered seat and back. This thick pile material is exceptionally soft to the touch. The combination of a sculptural wood frame and plush shearling cushions creates a striking sense of balance and visual appeal from every angle.

These chairs have undergone a full restoration in the Object Refinery workroom. As vintage pieces, they show minor wear consistent with age and history. Each frame was refinished by hand, and along with new lambswool upholstery, both chairs feature new foam padding. The result is a thoughtfully updated pair that has been carefully preserved for years to come.
